Adobe Character Animator allows you to create facial
animation for your characters not only by capturing the motion with a life
camera but also by using pre-recorded videos.
Although this is not a common method of using the software
it may help you achieve great facial animation results in a relatively short
time.
The process consists of taking a good quality video,
automatically track facial performance and paste it to any of your puppets in
Adobe Character Animator.
The reason for this being a less common option is that it
requires using external software to track facial data.
Since you are using Adobe Character Animator, it is likely
you already have access to Adobe After Effects which is also a part of Adobe
Creative Cloud.
Not being familiar with after effects, should not stop you
from using it for this task, since there are only a few simple actions to take
there. I will walk you through all of them in this video.
